Marge graduated from Lindblom High School on January 29, 1937, having skipped a semester of high school because her good grades. Later that day, she traded her cap and gown for a snazzier overcoat with a large fur collar. |
She also posed with her classmate, Robert Poltevecque, her future husband. |

Sometime around Marge's graduation from Lindblom, the Barnes family had what proved to be the last family portrait taken. From left to right, Russ, Jr. (also known as Dan), Bob, Olive, Dot, Ted, Marge, Russell, Sr., Bruce, and Marilyn. |

Marge was a big city girl and while there aren't many photos of her during this portion of her life, she certainly seems to have enjoyed her young adulthood. The bench she's sitting on says "Clyde-Mallory Lines. . .To New York." While she probably never made a trip to New York, she did travel to different areas of the country. |

Marge's high school photo reflects the fashion of the time, the late 1930s. Her inscription, "Lest We Forget - Lovingly, Margie," expressed a common sentiment. |

Marge always enjoyed looking at the world from a different angle. Here she puts that into practice on a different bench. |

Marge was a life-long avid reader, enjoying the popular fiction of the day. |

No one ever described Marge as "the bookish type," though. She certainly had an active social life in her early twenties. The fellow accompanying her in this picture is described on the back as her third cousin. |

This is one of the few formal portraits taken of Marge, which serves as the symbol for her in this biography. The date the photo was taken is uncertain but it was presumably done in the early 1940s. She had been involved with other men but Bob Poltevecque, now Bob Bishop, had been her friend since high school. They started dating and eventually he asked her to marry him and to start a family, to be known by his stage name of Bishop. She said yes and that was the beginning of the Bishops. |
