I felt a bit guilty, after writing about the spectacular autumn colors in Maine, for not giving equal time to the spectacular autumn colors of my native West. One place I'd seen a few years ago and wanted to return to in the fall was on the Colorado/New Mexico border. La Manga and Cumbres passes have some of the best aspen slopes anywhere, and Cumbres Pass is the route of the historic railroad, the Cumbres and Toltec. Here are some of the images I captured.
