Trillionaires

He always took life easy, whether sunny or breezy
Always let the streams keep their gold
He never questioned his luck, he liked to keep things rustic
Chopping aspen and pine for the stove
His old horse trailer had a cot and a table
And it felt just like a home
But now that old sun's brighter and his boots feel lighter
Cause now he's not sleeping alone

She never was a girl who was afraid of this world
She always took the rough with the smooth
Her working hands showed life's a mighty tough road
And she didn't have much left to prove
So that old horse trailer didn't strike her as failure
And she gave his love a chance
Cause it's worth more than gold to have someone to hold
To find a man who knows how to dance

'Cause when their boots start to glide, they can take things in stride
   Two steps at a time
Whatever life deals they're kicking up their heels
Cause love doesn't cost a dime
They don't mean to be putting on airs
But they're laughing and loving and living like trillionaires

When the moonlight speckles her sunburned freckles
And he's loving her curves and her curls
Her warm smile beckons and then he reckons
There's a mystery just known as girls
And when the stars grow paler that old horse trailer's
Always swaying on its springs
Cause life's simple pleasures are its greatest treasures
And a poor man can love like a king

'Cause when their boots start to glide, they can take things in stride
   Two steps at a time
Whatever life deals they're kicking up their heels
Cause love never cost a dime
They don't mean to be putting on airs
But they're laughing and loving and living like trillionaires
   Like trillionaires
   Like trillionaires

While playing in tiny Saratoga, Wyoming, I met a lovely couple who loved to dance the two-step. They were from Montana and while doing roofing and other jobs in different places they lived in his remodeled horse trailer. But, they assured me, they were living like trillionaires.
